Homemade Finger Paint!

Thanks to Pinterest I found some easy to make Edible Finger Paints.

I made the paints last night and then this afternoon the kiddos and I enjoyed painting with them. They had a weird texture to them. And I don't think that they tasted very well. I managed to keep Lyric from eating it. But with Michael.... That was a little harder. He managed to sneak a little taste here and there. And he wasn't too into painting. He did stick his fingers in it a couple of times, but didn't really paint on the paper. I knew that he was getting tired because as Lyric was finishing up he was rubbing his eyes and his face. And can you imagine what happened when he started to rub his face. The paint that was on his hands went straight to his face and his eyes. I wasn't able to get a good picture of his face after he rubbed his face.

Lyric loved the paints. She didn't want to stop. :) It is going to be another go to paint in the future. I think that she liked the feel of them. She would scoop the blob of paint up that I put on her paper and would smear it across her paper. Then she started to mix all the paints in her hands and then would go about and make her masterpiece.

The Recipe:
1/2 C Cornstarch
3-4 Tbsp Sugar
2 C Water

Mix in a saucepan over low-medium heat until it becomes thick but smooth. Let cool. Scoop into bowls or cups and add food coloring.

Our First Tea Party

This evening we had our first tea party. Lyric and I started our tea party with just the two of us and her two baby dolls. Then Once we started to set out the plates and cups Mikey decided that he would join us. He just had a little bit of sibling rivalry going on.

After Lyric took all that she could from Mikey messing with her tea party she messed it up to the max. She scattered everything on the floor too.

After our rivalry session, we moved the tea party to the picnic table.

Here are some pictures of just Mikey and what he was doing during the tea party.

And then there is Lyric... Boy, was she having fun!

Snow Day!

We had a snow storm night before last. They were saying that we were going to get anywhere between one to three inches of snow. Well, when the snow started coming down it wasn't sticking to the ground. So, I had my doubts. I didn't think that we were going to wake up and have any snow. :(

Well, I was wrong...

We ended up getting about three inches of snow. :)

It was Lyric's second time out in the snow and Michael's first time.

Lyric is making foot tracks in the snow. :)

I don't know about this 'white stuff' yet.
Whatever it is, it is cold.

Both of my babies standing by each other, wondering what to do.

We only lasted about ten minutes the first time we went outside. Lyric decided that she didn't want to keep her gloves on and wanted to play in the snow bare handed. She would not keep the gloves on for nothing. Well, she fell in the snow and made a snowball all bare handed. Then got hysterical because her hands and fingers were frozen. She is a lot like her daddy on that part. He hates when his hands and fingers are cold, he gets cranky too. :)

Then, when Mikey took his nap, me and Lyric went out and built ourselves a snowman. :) It was our first snowman that we built together. The only thing that could have made the experience better was having Chris there to help us.

First Day of a New Year

Wow! I cannot believe that it is a new year. Where has the last year gone?

Me and Chris have been together for 4 years, and married for 3.

Chris turned 21. And I turned 23.

Lyric turned 3 years old. And Michael turned 1 year old.

We all went home this past summer for a month. It was Chris' first time being home since he joined the Marine Corps, and it was Mikey's first time going home as well. And the first time many of our families got to see him in person for the very first time.

I met my nephew, Maison for the first time. Cute little boy.

Spent Christmas with Chris' parents. It's always nice to have family over for the holidays. Makes it that much more enjoyable. Maybe one year my grama and uncles can come visit for Christmas? I think that would be great and really enjoyable. That is unless we are stationed closer to home and it is easier for us to come home for Thanksgiving or for Christmas.

I am looking forward to 2014. My grama is thinking about coming to visit in the spring. Chris has been thinking about re-enlisting. So, I wonder where we could be stationed. I think that it would be great to be in North Carolina. Somewhere by the water.

Mikey's First Birthday

My Dear Michael,

Wow - Where did the last year go? I cannot believe that you are already ONE year old! Where did the time go?! It seems like it was just yesterday that I got to meet you for the first time and hold your sweet, little body next to mine. And here we are, a whole year later.

This has truly been one remarkable year. You have changed and grown so much from that little bundle of joy that we first brought home last winter. And now, you are crawling all over the place, "My Little Speed Demon." Just trying to keep up with your big sister. You pull up onto furniture and climbing on and up anything and everything that you possibly can. My only hope is that as you grow you are brave to take new risks and that you learn from your journeys and your risks no matter what the outcome may be.

You came into this world weighing in at 7 pounds and 5 ounces and 20 inches long. Such a tiny, precious, little baby. You came into this world so fast that you didn't give your mommy much time to get checked into the hospital. You knew that you wanted to come and you weren't going to wait for anyone or anything, now were you? You were my little bathroom baby. :) And now, you are still such a little baby. You laugh, you talk, and you walk. Making everyone who meets you smile. I can only dream of the young man that you will one day become. I will do anything and everything under the moon to be a good mother to you and to help guide you in your journey childhood and into your adulthood.

I love you Michael Justin. I love your cuddles, your smiles, and your giggles. I love your big, wide opened smile and the way you smack your lips as if you are going to give kisses. I love your dark hair and your almost black eyes and your long eyelashes. (Just like your sister.)

Happy first birthday to my sweet little son. May this be just the beginning of many, many more wonderful years to come. Thanks for letting me be your mommy! I love you my sweet, special boy!

Love,
Mommy

Big Kid Shoes?

While me and Lyric were playing this morning,
She found her daddy's shoes...
First she tried putting her hands in his shoes...
But then,
She...
Did...
This...
She put her foot in her daddy's shoe...
And...
Look at the look on her face!
She looks...
Oh,
So,
HAPPY!
She tried...
Tried to walk...
But...
She fell...
She fell backwards.
But that didn't stop her!
She got right back up,
And,
Went about her day.

Lyric's First Birthday

My Baby Girl,

Today, is your very first birthday. And I fall in love with you deeper and deeper each and every day.

I remember so clearly meeting you for the very first time, which was one year ago today. The doctor pulled you out, said that you were a girl and a few short minutes later you were laying on my chest in my arms. You were the most beautiful, precious, little thing that I had ever laid eyes on! You cried and although I wanted to cry, I wouldn't. You cried and I said, "Hi, Lyric." You looked up at me and into my eyes and just looked at me. It was the most wonderful moment of my entire life! And in that moment, I knew that I was your mother and you were my daughter and that you would change my life forever...

And now, a year has passed since that amazing day. And in this incredibly fast paced year, I saw your very first smile, heard your first giggles, and cried when you rolled over for the very first time. I cheered for you when you first tried to crawl and smiled when you finally decided that you wanted to sit up like all the other little girls that were at the photo shoot with you when you just wanted to crawl when they were all sitting. I cheered and I cried when you first stood up on those chubby little legs of yours and tried to take your first wobbly steps. I did all of this because I was and am so proud and amazed at how far you have come this past year.

You came into this world, weighing, 7 pounds and 9 ounces and 20 and a quarter inches long. Such a tiny, little baby. So pink and soft, so innocent and pure, dependent and perfect in every possible way. And now, your a little girl... 21 pounds 6 ounces. You laugh, you talk, you walk. Making everyone smile who is lucky enough to meet you. You are one year old today, but beginning a journey. A journey that will take you in many different directions and will teach you many different things. As I watch you walking ever so cautiously, I think of the woman I hope that you will one day become. I will do anything and everything under the sun to be a good mother to you and help guide you in your journey childhood and into adulthood.

You have developed into such an amazing little person already. You are the sweetest and most loving child I have ever met. You are kind, gentle-hearted and oh so smart. I know in my heart there are big things ahead of you. You have made this world a better place by being in it and I feel so honored to have been chosen to be your mother.

You melt my heart every time you smile, and when you lay your head in my lap after playing so hard. Never in my life have I been so excited to wake up... It's because I get to wake up to you. You always wake up in such a great mood and happy and talking. I look forward to when you wake up and seeing your precious, smiling face and am excited for what the day might hold for the two of us.

I know that this last year being at home with you has been the greatest gift that I could ever ask for. This year has been an amazing journey. It has been the most rewarding, incredible, special time in my whole life. I will cherish the experience of your first year of life in a special way, and will treasure it always in my heart.

Words cannot express how much I love you, my princess, my precious baby girl. You are my sunshine, my heart, my purpose for being - my everything. I'm so very proud of you and honored to be your momma. This last year has been filled with priceless memories and I look forward to so many more to come.

Love,
Momma

Baby Girls Present

Saturday afternoon,

Baby Girl got a birthday present.
A birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa.

She got the Go Baby Go! Stride-to-Ride Dino.
It is a toy to help her walk and then once she masters the walking part.
The Dino can turn into a ride on Dino.

And by the looks of it,
Wouldn't you say that she likes it?

She loves to push the buttons on the little Dino's head. Because they sing and talk and flash different colors.

Just look at her face! Isn't that the face of pure joy?

Sorry, I don't know why my video is sideways.

She's Growing Up!

OH MY!!!

Lyric is almost crawling! She can hold her tummy up off of the ground and uses one leg/knee and moves with that leg and knee. But when it comes to having to move the other leg/knee she scoots. So, she almost is there. It is so exciting to watch her. Although, it makes me sad that she is growing up.

We were playing in her room this evening. I have her room decorated with stuffed animals in places throughout her room. And while we were playing and scooting around on the floor she found the Winnie the Pooh characters that were holding her door open. And was having a ball playing with them.

Then she found her "dresser" which is actually a bookshelf with baskets on the shelfs with her shoes, socks, hats, ect. in them. And between the spaces (where a basket will not fit) are her books, paper books and the cardboard books. She found the cardboard books and was attempting to get them out of the bookshelf. But when she is on her tummy she couldn't get the book out that she wanted. Then when I do get it out...
Guess where she goes!?

Back to the Pooh characters!

That silly girl!!!

She also found the metal flower pot/bucket thingy that I got at my baby shower, that I put all the pacifiers that I had received at my baby showers that she did not care for a bit. Well, she was curious. And she liked them! So I went from two of the soothie pacifiers to a whole lot more pacifiers. And I don't need to worry about keep loosing her pacifiers.

A New Start

So, I deleted my previous posts, as I want to start my blog off on a happy start and not just write about the rough patches that I was having before moving here (to Virginia.) Although, I will still write about all the good and the bad. But with starting over I believe that I will continue to write, about the good and the bad.

On another note, I am getting ready to make my own website. It will be in the works for the coming weeks. I am planning on managing a consignment with some of Lyric's old clothing and maybe starting my own "boutique," make a little extra money by doing something that I enjoy while being a "stay-at-home momma."

I must say, that I do enjoy being a stay-at-home momma. And I love my hubby more than anything to let me have the opportunity to stay home with Lyric as she grows. It means the world to me that he lets me do this. I will get to see most if not all of her "firsts" because Chris is letting me do this rather than a working mother who will most likely miss her daughter's "firsts."
