Saturday 9 - Waterfalls

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1. This song encourages us to "stick to the rivers and lakes you're used to." What body of water is nearest your home -- pond, lake, river, gulf or sea?
The Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean

2. Have you ever visited a waterfall? If so, please tell us about it.
Nope, not that I can recall

3. This song is from a CD entitled CrazySexyCool. Which word best describes how you feel today: Crazy, sexy or cool?
Sexy

4. The girls in TLC originally began hanging around together in an Atlanta-area hair salon. When did you last sit in a stylist's chair?
When I was getting my hair and make-up done for the Marine Corps Birthday Ball

5. While she spent her adolescence in Atlanta, band member Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins was born in Des Moines. Do you live in or near the town where you were born?
Nope. I'm actually on the opposite side of the country

6. One of T-Boz' recent public appearances was on the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Do you watch any of the popular Bravo Real Housewives shows?
Nope, not for me

7. In the 1990's band member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was romantically involved with an Atlanta Falcons football player. They shared his upscale, two-story mansion. How would you describe your abode (house, cottage, apartment, condo, studio, etc.)?
I don't know how to describe our apartment. My home. :)

8. Ms. Lopes was accused of arson when, after the couple argued, that mansion happened to burn down. When was the last time you lost your temper? How did you express your anger? (If it was with a criminal act, you may wish to keep it to yourself.)
The other day... Chris was a pain in the rear end.

9. Today the third member of TLC, Chilli, designs personalized handbags. They cost about $225 each. What's the most expensive thing you have bought recently?
Chris got me the Harry Potter books (hardcover) for Valentine's Day.

Saturday 9 - Susan

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1. In this song, our hero tells Susan that "no other girl could ever take the place of you." Crazy Sam feels that no other earmuffs could ever take the place of the ones she left in restaurant coat room last month. Tell us about something you recently broke, lost or misplaced.
Well, I didn't break it. Chris did. He broke the screen on my phone. :(

2. When this song was first released back in 1968, the name Susan was very popular. According to the Social Security Administration, it was one of the top 10 baby girl names of the 1940's 1950's and 1960's. Today it's not even in the top 100. Do you know anyone named Susan (or Suzanne)?
I sure do. :)

3. The Buckinghams were Chicago's attempt to get in on The British Invasion begun by the Beatles. (Hence the silly suits.) But they took their name from Chicago's famous Buckingham Fountain. If Crazy Sam visited your neighborhood, what local site would you recommend she check out?
The Boardwalk here in Virginia Beach or the Train Depot in Boise, Idaho.

4. Chicago is known for deep dish pizza. Describe your dream pizza. (Calories, carbs and gluten need not be a factor because it's dream pizza!)
I love pizza. Any kind of pizza. I don't think that I have a dream pizza though.

5. The Buckinghams got thir big break by winning a local "battle of the bands." Do you often go to concerts or bars to listen to live music?
No, not really.

6. The best-selling book in 1968 (the year "Susan" was released) was Airport by Arthur Hailey. It was set during a snowstorm at Lincoln International, a fictional airport based on Chicago's O'Hare. What's the most recent airport you flew to? Why were you there?
Norfolk airport. We were coming back home from vacation.

7. Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, Sox... Chicago is a big sports town. What's your favorite pro team?
Probably the Seattle Mariners. :)

8. Thinking of sports, did you watch the Olympics? If yes, which events?
Nope, I wanted to but our bunny ears for the tv broke. :(

9. Do you consider yourself an idealist or a pragmatist?
Huh?

Saturday 9 - As Time Goes By

1. This is the theme song of Casablanca, generally acknowledged as one the screen's great love stories. In honor of Valentine's Day weekend, what's your favorite movie romance?
Any of Nicholas Sparks movies.

2. Even though he was only 5'8 and had a receding hairline, Humphrey Bogart was a popular leading man. What movie or TV actor or actress makes your heart skip a beat?
Channing Tatum.

3. Sweethearts are those little heart-shaped candies that are printed with messages like, "Be Mine" and "Kiss Me." Do you like how they taste?
I like the yellow and the pink ones. ONLY those ones.

4. Valentine's Day is a big day for florists. When is the last time a floral arrangement adorned your table or desk?
Oh boy, it's been a while!

5. Do you think an e-card means as much as a conventional card in an envelope?
I personally don't think so. I would rather have the card to have it in plain sight for everyone to see.

6. Despite what you see on Valentines, the human heart isn't bright red. It's really a brownish shade of red, like a brick. Now it's your turn. Share some trivia that's been rattling around in your head. (It does NOT have to be about Valentines or the human heart. It can be any random fact at all.)
Months that begin on a Sunday always have a Friday the 13th in them.

7. When is the last time you thought your heart would break?
I'm not sure.

8. What is the most recent thing to lift your heart?
Michael making kissy noises.

9. Who is the most "hard hearted" person you know?
I don't know what this question is asking.

Saturday 9 - Why Don't We Get Drunk?

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1. This week's song was once named the favorite song of Bud Wiser, the godfather to this humble blog. With Valentine's Day coming up, what's your favorite love song?
Hmm... I've got quite a few favorite love songs. I think my favorite one lately is Love Story by Taylor Swift.

2. When this song was first released back in 1973, the "Why don't we get drunk and screw?" refrain was considered shocking. With the explicit sexual content in many of today's songs, it now hardly raises an eyebrow. When is the last time you were shocked? (Not just by a song, by anything at all.)
Not long ago, but I can't remember what it was that shocked me.

3. Buffett named his first daughter Savannah, presumably after his favorite city. Tell us about your favorite city.
I don't really have a favorite city. Not yet anyways. I haven't been to very many cities. Besides the ones that I grew up and live in now.

4. Mr. Buffett opened a Margaritaville Casino in Atlantic City. Have you ever gambled in Atlantic City? What about Las Vegas?
Nope and nope.

5. Saving Florida's manatees is a cause near and dear to Jimmy Buffett's heart. If we were to make a $100 contribution to any charity in your honor, which would you choose?
I would choose the Shriner's Hospital. To know more about them, go here.

6. If today was your birthday, your astrological sign would be Aquarius. How often do you check your horoscope?
About never.

7. On this date in 1974, the show Good Times ("Dy-no-mite!") premiered and, much to Sam's confusion and chagrin, still enjoys an audience in syndication. Tell us about a pop culture phenomenon that you just never got into.

8. Is there a home improvement project on your list of things to do?
Just to get my mirrors and candle holders hung back up. And maybe more pictures on the walls.

9. A warm-weather choice to consider on a February day: Ice cream sundae or banana split?
MMM... Either one.

Saturday 9 - I Gotta Feeling

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here

1. What would make tonight a good, good night?
If both of the kids would sleep through the night. I've been lucky the last three nights. But as we aren't at home tonight, I am hoping more that they will sleep all night.

2. In the song, he sings that he's got money and wants to "spend it up." How much cash is in your wallet right now?
I don't have any cash in my wallet, but I do have some checks and $40 in formula checks that I need to spend. (Free formula!) :)

3. The lyrics include "mazel tov," which means good luck or congratulations. What other Hebrew/Yiddish phrases do you know?
None.

4. The colorfully named Black Eyed Peas include Fergie (born Stacey Ferguson) and will.i.am (William Adams) and Taboo (Jamie Gomez). If you could choose a stage name, what would it be?
Hmm... I don't know what I would choose, I think that I would ask my friends to help me decide on a stage name.

5. This song was crazy popular in Canada, debuting at #2 on the charts. Have you ever visited our neighbor to the north?
I have once or twice. Both of which were times when I was visiting my Uncle who at the time lived in Seattle.

6. When's the last time you laughed really hard?
This evening actually.

7. Who received the last text you sent?
One of the Gunnery Sergeants that Chris works with.

8. Which sounds like more fun -- skiing or skating?
Either one. I love to ski and skate. I haven't done either in years.

9. Thinking of sports, are you looking forward to The Super Bowl?
Hmm... I'm not sure. We are spending the weekend with some friends who's team made it to the Super Bowl so, I guess that I am looking forward to it. She makes great food too!

Saturday 9 - I Will Always Love You

1. The Bodyguard is the best-selling movie soundtrack ever and this is the song most often associated with Whitney Houston. Is it on you iPod/mp3 player?
No, it isn't. But I love this song. :)

2. In the movie, Rachel (Whitney) sings "I Will Always You" after she realizes she can never see Frank (Kevin Costner) again. What song reminds you of a past love?
"Girls Don't Like Boys" by Good Charlotte reminds me of my very first love.

3. Despite the movie's and the song's overwhelming popularity, Whitney Houston was awarded a Razzie Award as the worst actress of 1992. What's the most recent criticism you received?
Hmm.. The most recent criticism that I received? I can't remember. Must not have bothered me.

4. On the bright side, share the last compliment you received.
I think the last compliment that I received was something along the lines of Lyric behaving while out and about.

5. In the 1980's when Whitney first burst onto the scene, a trendy woman wore big hair, big bows and big shoulder pads. Can you think of anything you wore that was fashionable at the time, but looking back, makes you cringe? (An embarrassing photo to accompany your answer would be nice!)
I think it would be the time that I got a perm. I had long and thick hair. I thought at the time that I really liked it. But now, when I think back, I can't believe that I did it. Sorry, I don't have a picture.

6. When this song was popular, cell phones were uncommon and Facebook was unheard of. Which has had a bigger impact on your life -- smart phones or social networking ?
I think cell phones, as I was big into sports and extra curricular activities and needed to be able to get in contact with my mom. Not necessarily smart phones. I wasn't that into them for a long time along with social networking. The only reason I really got into social networking was to keep in touch with friends. And at the time that was MySpace. I still have it, but don't remember my login stuff. Now it's Facebook and Blogging and most of that is for my family and friends since I live across the country from them.

7. Whitney's marriage to Bobby Brown left many people shaking their heads. Whitney and Bobby's daughter recently married the young man who was raised as her brother. Have you ever been in a relationship your friends/family didn't approve of?
Yes, there have been a few relationships that my family didn't approve of.

8. Whitney Houston's grave marker reads, "I Will Always Love You," so obviously her family is very proud of the success of this recording. How would you like to be remembered?
I don't know how I want to be remembered. I just hope that my family and friends know that I love them.

9. Whitney was born in Newark, the largest city in New Jersey. It's a major air, rail, and shipping hub, and it's in the Eastern Time Zone. Have you ever been to Newark ... or any town in New Jersey?
Nope, never been. But I would love to go. I want to go to Carlo's bakery and get some of their delicious desserts. :)

Saturday 9 - Best Song Ever

Best Song Ever

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here. (This is their official video and it begins with a skit; music starts at 2:25.)

1. Dancing all night to the best song ever would be good for the cardiovascular system. When is the last time you exercised?
Does walking around an outdoor shopping center count?

2. The girl in this song is the daughter of a dentist. "Dentophobia" is fear of dentists. How do you feel about going to the dentist?
I don't mind the dentist, as long as I don't need any fillings, the numbing shots, or any drilling done. I think these are the worst things I think their are about the dentist.

3. One Direction performed this on Good Morning, America. Do you watch morning TV? If so, which show?
When I do watch morning TV I watch The Today Show.

4. Listening to upbeat pop songs like this one makes Sam feel young. When is the last time you participated in an activity commonly connected to children (like swinging on a swing, drinking chocolate milk, playing a board game, etc.)?
I do on a daily basis. I am a stay at home mommy who gets to spend every single day with both of my kiddos. So, I spend about every minute of every day with my kiddos and playing with them. From the time they get up to the time that they go to bed. And I wouldn't change it for the world. :)

5. One of the boys, Louis Tomlinson, was an actor before joining the band. How many different professions have you tried? What were they?
I have been a Receptionist and a member of the Activity Department at a Nursing Home. I have also been a teacher intern while I was in High School. I enjoyed everything that I have done so far. I am actually working on getting my degree to become a teacher. I would also like to one day get back into volunteering or working in a Nursing Home.

6. The fans that have made One Direction millionaires are also the target audience for series like The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Wimpy Kid. Do you read Young Adult literature?
I do read Young Adult literature. I can't tell you how many times I have read the Harry Potter series. I have started The Hunger Games, but haven't finished the first one. I think my favorites are the Harry Potter series and the Twilight Saga.

7. If this is the "best song ever," what song do you consider the worst? Tell us which song just sets your teeth on edge.
I think the worst song ever is Moves Like Jagger. I can't stand this song. It drives me nuts!

8. One Direction performed at the Royal Variety Show for Queen Elizabeth. If you found yourself presented to Her Majesty, what would you say?
I have know idea what I would say to Her Majesty if I were found to have myself presented to her. What does one say?

9. Right now, is your life moving in the right direction or are you feeling a bit aimless?
I think that right now my life is moving in the right direction. I am going to get back into my studies and hopefully in a few months I can have my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. :)

Saturday 9 - That's My Kind of Night

That's My Kind of Night

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Here it here.

1. In this song, our hero offers to take his girl down to the river to catch a catfish dinner. What is your favorite seafood?
I enjoy any kind of seafood. I just don't do sushi. I don't know if you would consider sushi seafood. I think that my all time favorite seafood is shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, and mussels.

2. Luke Bryan went to Georgia State University, home of the Panthers. What was your school mascot?
My high school mascot was the Eagle.

3. Have you ever tried acupuncture?
Nope.

4. Just last night, Crazy Sam threw away a jar of Miracle Whip because it expired in September 2013. Is your refrigerator neat and organized? Or is it a disaster area, like Sam's?
My refrigerator isn't neat and organized, but it isn't a disaster area either. Everything has it's place, most of the time, but by occasion you may find some that my be just a little expired.

5. Which is more important to you -- saving time or saving money?

6. Sam's next door neighbor is named Jim. He's retired, smokes a pipe and drives a red Corolla. Tell us about one of your neighbors.
One of my neighbors is our maintenance guy. I don't know his name. He is a really nice guy, his son lives with him, he is pretty quiet and drives a silver colored truck.

7. What's the most recent magazine you flipped through?
The last magazine that I looked through was Family Circle.

8. Could your vehicle use a trip to the car wash right now?
It might be in for a wash. We gave it a quick rinse about a week ago. So, yea, I guess it could use a wash. :)

9. Did you hit the snooze button this morning?
I didn't. But Chris did, I think.

30 Days of Me Challenge (Day 8)

Day 8: What are 3 passions you have?

Hmm... I would say that my three passions would have to be my kiddos, Chris, and music

My kiddos are one of my passions because they teach me something new almost everyday. The day that I had Lyric she taught me the true meaning of love and what it really means to love. And then their was Michael... From being able to be a stay-at-home mommy I have gotten to see almost all of their firsts. And I think that I am extremely lucky to be able to stay at home. It has given me so much joy. Even if there were really early mornings and middle of the night feedings. I wouldn't give any of that up.

I have a passion for Chris because he has given me two of the greatest things in life. He has given me a beautiful daughter and a wonderful son. He works hard at what he does and provides for his family really well. It's because of him that I have the opportunity to be a stay-at home mommy. It's one of the best things that I have been able to do.

I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. I played his trumpet and tuba when I was younger and then I went into 5th grade I joined the school band. I played the flute. I played the flute all the way through 7th grade and then in 8th grade I played both the flute and the piccolo. My grama and popa got me a piccolo as a present. I played both the flute and the piccolo all through high school. It was some of the best memories that I ever had.

Saturday 9 - Believe

Believe

1. In 1998, Cher became the oldest woman to top the Billboard Hot 100 with "Believe." She was 52 at the time. At what age do you think you did hit/will hit your prime?
Hmm... I don't know. Maybe once I get my teaching degree?

2. Cher is as well known for her outrageous outfits as for her singing. What's the latest piece of clothing you added to your wardrobe?
I think the last piece of clothing that I bought were two pairs of pants that I bought after having Michael. Just plain dark colored jeans.

3. Cher credits her unique looks to her diverse ethnicity. Her father was Armenian and her mom is English/German/Cherokee. From where did your ancestors come?
My biological father is Native American. He is from the Assiniboine tribe that is found in Missoula, Montana. I'm not quite sure what my mom is. I know that I've been told. But I can't remember.

4. When she was a little girl, Cher produced and starred in a schoolyard production of Oklahoma. Were you involved in drama or theater in school?
No, I was never involved in drama or theater. I was more into band.

5. Cher is open about her plastic surgery, speaking freely about having had her breasts 'done', her nose bobbed and her teeth straightened. If you could change one physical feature about yourself, which would it be? And what would you never change, under any circumstances?
I think the only physical feature that I would change about myself is my weight. I wouldn't change drastically, I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight. Something that I will never change, under any circumstances would be my face and breasts. I am really quite happy about those. :)

6. There's a stubborn rumor, often denied, that Cher had a rib removed so that she could maintain her long and lean silhouette. What's the most outrageous thing anyone has said of you?
In elementary school I used to be teased that I was adopted or that I was Mexican because I didn't look like my sisters.

7. When she was a kid, Cher practiced her autograph. Do you have a clear, legible signature? Or is it more of a scrawl?
I think my signature is legible. It might not be clear, but it is legible. Chris' signature on the other hand is a scrawl. Never is it the same and never is it clear or legible. The only thing that is clear about his signature is the C for Chris.

8. Cher asks, "Do you believe in like after love?" Crazy Sam's question is easier and less profound: Do you believe in luck?
I think I believe in luck a little bit.

9. Did you make any resolutions for 2014?
No, I didn't really make any resolutions for this year. I made more goals rather than resolutions.
