30 Days of Me Challenge (Day 1)

Day 1: List 10 random facts about yourself.

1. I wore glasses until about half way through middle school then got contacts.

2. I got a perm in middle school, at the time I believe I liked it, but when I look back at pictures, I can't believe that I did that. I look back at a picture and can't believe how curly my hair was! It was crazy curly!

3. My grama chipped one of my front teeth on her kitchen sink while coloring my hair. I don't remember exactly what we were doing at the time, if we were playing around or not. But I believe we were rinsing the color out of my hair and I went into the edge of the sink.

4. I am working on getting my degree in Early Childhood Education. I am wanting to teach in any grade between pre-k and 1st or 2nd grade.

5. I volunteered in the activity department in local nursing homes for as long as I can remember. My mom has worked in a nursing home since I can remember. I can remember two nursing homes that I have volunteered in. I also got my first job in one of the nursing homes that I volunteered in. I worked at this nursing home all through high school, up until the time that I left to have my baby girl.

6. I want to grow my hair out as long as I can, but I keep chopping it all off every spring/summer. My hair is so dark and thick that it gives me headaches, and to get rid of the headaches in the heat, I cut my hair and color it so that it is lighter.

7. In our closets all our hangers have to be facing the same way along with our clothing all facing the same direction. I prefer to have all plastic hangers, but if I happen to have some metal hangers I use those for my hubby's uniforms. It also drives me crazy when my hubby leaves his empty hangers hanging between his clothes on his side of the closet.

8. Every morning when my kiddos wake up, I make sure that I make their beds and all their toys are put away and all their stuffed animals are nicely put.

9. I love the classic Disney movies like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid. I can watch these kind of movies every day, all day with my kiddos. I don't know that I care for a lot of the newer Disney movies. Don't get me wrong... They are still good, I just don't think that they are as good for our younger kids, they are more family friendly, which is still a very good thing. :)

10. Before going to bed every night, I have to have my living areas clean. I make sure that the kids toys are put away where they go, how they go, and correctly. I also have to have all my blankets nicely folded and put on the sofas nicely. If I have the time, I also make sure that all my dishes are clean or at least rinsed.

Hodgepodge Questions Volume Brand New Year

Happy New Year!

1. Times Square is the setting for the infamous ball drop signaling the start of a brand new year... when did you last 'drop the ball' on something?
I can't remember the last time that I 'dropped the ball' on something.

2. What is one thing you resolved to do in 2013 that you actually did?
We got Lyric potty trained. At least when we are at home. We are still working on the part when we are out and about. There are times when she tells us that she has to go, so we are getting closer.

3. Jack London is quoted as saying, "You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." Agree or disagree? Why?
I think that I fall in the middle on this one.
I've had instances where I was inspired by something or someone when I wasn't looking to be inspired. And then there are other times when I feel that I need to go looking for inspiration.

4. What was the best thing you ate in 2013?
Wow! Tough question! I think that it would have to be Chris' grandma's pink goo/fluff whatever it is they call it. I loved it when we had it on the Fourth of July. I even made it for Christmas.

5. Share an anti-resolution... that is, something you plan to keep on doing in the new year?

6. The Pantone color of the year for 2014 is radiant orchid. Like or no like? Would I find this color anywhere in your home or wardrobe? Will you add something in this shade to either?
I don't mind the color. I like it. But, I don't think that you will find this color in my house, but there is a chance that you could find it in my closet.

7. In three words or less, sum up your 2013.
Family, Love!, Growing

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Happy New Year! I hope this year is as good as the last.

Happy New Year!

Here is to a new year!

I am hoping that I will write at least once a day on my blog. I know I said that last year, but now that Mikey isn't as little and doesn't need my attention constantly, I hope that I can post everyday about what we do each day and how the kids are and what they have been up to on that particular day.

I am also going to get back into my Early Childhood Education studies this month and finish that, I hope.

I also hope to get back down to my pre-baby weight. I didn't lose much of it after having Mikey, and didn't lose anymore while breastfeeding. :( I just want to be healthier and have more energy really.

Mikey's First Birthday

My Dear Michael,

Wow - Where did the last year go? I cannot believe that you are already ONE year old! Where did the time go?! It seems like it was just yesterday that I got to meet you for the first time and hold your sweet, little body next to mine. And here we are, a whole year later.

This has truly been one remarkable year. You have changed and grown so much from that little bundle of joy that we first brought home last winter. And now, you are crawling all over the place, "My Little Speed Demon." Just trying to keep up with your big sister. You pull up onto furniture and climbing on and up anything and everything that you possibly can. My only hope is that as you grow you are brave to take new risks and that you learn from your journeys and your risks no matter what the outcome may be.

You came into this world weighing in at 7 pounds and 5 ounces and 20 inches long. Such a tiny, precious, little baby. You came into this world so fast that you didn't give your mommy much time to get checked into the hospital. You knew that you wanted to come and you weren't going to wait for anyone or anything, now were you? You were my little bathroom baby. :) And now, you are still such a little baby. You laugh, you talk, and you walk. Making everyone who meets you smile. I can only dream of the young man that you will one day become. I will do anything and everything under the moon to be a good mother to you and to help guide you in your journey childhood and into your adulthood.

I love you Michael Justin. I love your cuddles, your smiles, and your giggles. I love your big, wide opened smile and the way you smack your lips as if you are going to give kisses. I love your dark hair and your almost black eyes and your long eyelashes. (Just like your sister.)

Happy first birthday to my sweet little son. May this be just the beginning of many, many more wonderful years to come. Thanks for letting me be your mommy! I love you my sweet, special boy!

Love,
Mommy
